Who we are
Pylon Cloud (“Pylon”, “we”) sells virtual private servers. We work from Portland, Oregon. Questions about this policy go to privacy@pylon.example.
What we collect
We collect the information you give us, the information the service generates while you use it, and a small amount of technical data from the website.
- Account details: name, email address, a hash of your password, company name, and billing address.
- Billing details: a payment token from our payment processor, card brand, last four digits, expiry month, and invoices. We do not store full card numbers.
- Instance details: hostname, plan, operating system image, IP addresses, bandwidth totals, and snapshot metadata.
- Support and abuse messages you send us, including attachments.
- Site logs: pages requested, browser type, and the IP address used to reach the site. We use the IP address to keep the service available and to investigate abuse.
We do not read the contents of your disk as part of ordinary operation. We will look at customer data on a machine only to comply with a valid legal request, or to stop abuse that threatens the platform or other customers.
How we use it
- To create your account, start and stop instances, and route traffic to the address you were assigned.
- To bill you, prevent fraud, and keep a record of invoices.
- To answer support requests and investigate abuse reports.
- To send service messages about incidents, invoices, and changes to this policy. Product mail is sent only if you ask for it.
- To understand which public pages help someone choose a plan, using the cookie choices described below.
We do not sell personal information.
Payments
Card payments are handled by a PCI-compliant payment processor. The processor receives your card number. Pylon receives a token, the brand, the last four digits, and the expiry so we can show the method on an invoice and charge the plan you selected.
Cookies
The marketing site uses a necessary cookie to remember a login session once an account exists. Optional analytics cookies run only after you accept them. You can refuse optional cookies and still read every public page. The session cookie is limited to the Pylon domain and expires when you log out, or after 30 days of inactivity.
How long we keep it
Account information stays while the account is open. After you close it, we keep invoices and the related billing records for seven years, which is the period we need for tax and accounting. Support tickets are kept for two years. Server logs from the public website are kept for 90 days. Backups you enable are kept for seven days, then deleted on a rolling basis. Snapshots remain until you delete them, and the storage charge stops when they are gone.
Who we share it with
We share information with companies that process it for us: the payment processor, the email provider that delivers invoices and support replies, and the operator of the facility that runs the machines. They may use the information only to provide that service.
We also share information when the law requires it, and when it is needed to investigate a report sent to abuse@pylon.example. If a request asks for customer content on a disk, we look for a valid legal process before we disclose it, unless delay would create a serious risk of harm or a serious risk to the platform.
Your choices
You can ask for a copy of the account information we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Deletion does not erase invoices we are required to keep. You can export instance metadata from the account page while the account is open. Send requests to privacy@pylon.example. We respond within 30 days.
You can unsubscribe from product mail with the link in those messages. Service mail about incidents and invoices continues while the account is open.
International transfers
Account, billing, and instance records are stored in the United States. If a provider we use processes information outside the United States, we use contractual clauses for that transfer.
Children
Pylon is not for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly create accounts for children. If you believe a child has opened one, write to privacy@pylon.example and we will close it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and change the effective date. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will also send a note to the email on the account before the change takes effect.
